Leader Expectations

Being a leader at Sidney First Church of the Nazarene is both a privilege and a responsibility. As leaders, we carry the mission of the church--To Know Christ and To Make Him Known—into every ministry, event, and relationship.
These expectations are designed to keep us aligned, healthy, and effective as we serve Christ together.

1. Spiritual Life
  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus through prayer, Scripture, and worship.
  • Live a life that reflects Christlike character in both public and private settings.
  • Commit to the community of Sidney First Naz through regular worship attendance and fellowship.

2. Mission Alignment
  • Lead in a way that supports our discipleship process: Worship, Grow, Serve, Invite.
  • Uphold the church’s mission, vision, and core values in decision-making and communication.
  • Encourage your team to live out these same priorities.

3. Leadership Responsibilities
  • Model servant leadership — no task is beneath a leader.
  • Multiply by mentoring and equipping others to lead.
  • Mobilize volunteers by encouraging, scheduling, and supporting them.
  • Manage ministry details with excellence (planning, communication, follow-through).

4. Communication
  • Use church communication tools (ChurchCenter / Planning Center, email, text groups, etc.) for consistency.
  • Communicate regularly with your pastor, coordinator, or ministry staff contact.
  • Respond to messages in a timely manner (within 24–48 hours when possible).

5. Event & Ministry Execution
  • Follow established processes and procedures (event requests, scheduling, safety policies, etc.).
  • Submit announcements and promotional requests within provided timelines.
  • Evaluate ministry events and gatherings for effectiveness and alignment with our mission.

6. Care & Shepherding
  • See people as more important than programs — relationships come first.
  • Be attentive to the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of those you lead.
  • Celebrate wins and encourage your team members regularly.

7. Accountability
  • Be open to coaching, feedback, and direction from pastors and staff.
  • Seek to resolve conflict biblically (Matthew 18:15–17 model).
  • Protect the unity of the church by avoiding gossip or divisive behavior.

In Summary: Leaders at Sidney First Naz are expected to lead with humility, integrity, and intentionality. You are more than just a coordinator, you are shaping disciples.
