Journey in the Word: 2011
This year we are reading one chapter a week from scripture. The first day of the week you may just want to read through the chapter. After that, during each day that you read, start asking the questions Who? What? Where? When? and Why? as well as following cross references to other scriptures if your Bible includes them. Having a study Bible with footnotes will also be a benefit to your daily reading. Keeping a notebook of your answers and what you learn is another tool you might find useful. Follow your own questions that pop up as you read and study as well. In this process you will gain a deeper understanding of your faith and who you serve.
Remember - you are not in school and this is not an assignment with a due date. This is a process that will help mold you into the person God wants you to be. So, do what you can and don't get discouraged. If you miss for a while, just let it go and jump back in on the current weeks reading.
We will begin with the Book of John. Each Sunday you will find a list of the readings for the current month and the following month in the bulletin, as well as listed on here. The amount of time spent each day reading is up to you, but 15-20 minutes should be adequate.
